We are happy to announce the publication of our study: "The association between bilingualism and voice quality in Spanish-English bilingual speakers: A systematic review" in the Journal of Voice.
In this systematic review, we summarized the available data on voice quality in bilingual Spanish-English speakers. Eight published articles were included in the review. Across these articles, voice quality was described using acoustic measures, and for some studies, auditory-perceptual measures. While all studies found vocal changes when comparing voice in a first or second language, and some indication of speakers using more vocal fry in English was found, more research is needed on the topic.
